Michele Tharp Is your organization contending with the “ERP Doom Loop?”

Michele Tharp, Senior Practice Manager  :  13 April 2012 / 12:20 PM  :  0 0 comments

The “Doom Loop” is a pattern of behavior consistent across all enterprise-wide software (not just Lawson) and utilized to describe the value of the software as it changes over time within the corporate environment.
If you answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions, it is possible your organization is contending with the ERP Doom Loop.

  • Do users feel as if they do not “own” the system?
  • Have a low percentage of users been trained?
  • Do projects to enhance and upgrade the system tend to drag or never happen?
  • Are users complaining about things you think the software should handle?
  • Did the organization try to mimic the old system when implementing the new?
  • ...

Michele Tharp Increasing Your Supply Chain Efficiency

    Michele Tharp, Senior Practice Manager  :  10 April 2012 / 9:32 AM  :  0 0 comments

Many organizations implemented a portion of Lawson's Mobile Supply Chain Management (MSCM) during their upgrade to version 9.0 or 9.0.1. Now that your existing environment is current, it is a great time to assess the functionality and technology implemented as part of MSCM. Often times, there are pieces of the product that were left off the initial plan due to timing, budget, or resource availability.

When fully implemented, MSCM can save your organization time and money by leveraging technology and process enhancements to improve visibility to and timeliness of product moves in your health care organization. While there are many components that must be implemented and synchronized for a successful MSCM implementation such as handheld devices, bar code printers, PostScript enab...

Michele Tharp Are Your Requisitions Out of Control?

    Michele Tharp, Senior Practice Manager  :  27 March 2012 / 11:00 AM  :  0 0 comments

Many organizations have lost control over the requisition process resulting in adverse effects on the ‘procure to pay’ cycle. Some examples of this ‘lack of control’ include maverick spending and no specific requisition number or status to track within a system because the process is paper based with a manually intensive approval process. In addition, the requester often does not have the correct item description, vendor number, pricing, or department and account number to charge. These issues cascade down the ‘procure to pay’ stream resulting in other users and departments spending a lot of time correcting errors. With Lawson's Requisition Center (RQC) -

  • Requisitions are controlled by system assigned numbers that will be tracked from...

Jeff Smith Social Media in Healthcare – The Next Big Thing for Consumers

    Jeff Smith, Director, Healthcare Vertical - Business Solutions  :  01 December 2011 / 12:39 PM  :  0 0 comments

There are more than 800 million active users on Facebook today and over 50% login each and every day.  Hundreds of hospitals across the country have deployed enterprise social platforms to improve collaboration between physicians and staff.  Insurance companies have tried to reach consumers over the web for many years with very little success.  Both are seeking new ways to engage consumers to influence their behaviors by investing in next generation social technologies (Mobile Applications, Video Chat, Social Gaming, Social TV, Social Couponing, Social Learning, Social CRM and Social Navigation) that can be fully integrated into the backend systems to leverage this new consumer data with their existing clinical and financial data.  So, how do insurance companies and physicians become "f...

Jeff Smith Consumer Activation - Driving Powerful Connections in Healthcare

    Jeff Smith, Director, Healthcare Vertical - Business Solutions  :  08 June 2011 / 5:22 PM  :  0 0 comments

As people take on greater responsibility for health spend and care choices there is a need for convenient access to support, tools, and information.  Buyers of health insurance need to understand their options in coverage, networks and financial exposure.  Consumers of care need to engage and be engaged to actively manage their health choices for improved health.

Reform legislation will open the market for new products and competitors.  Small group employers are expected to voucher employees to the open market for insurance solutions and Buying Exchanges will move this market exclusively to the internet.

Increased popularity of Consumer-Directed Health Plans (where account holders engage in financial and care decisions) and the explosive use of the internet a...

Jeff Smith Enterprise Mobility in Healthcare: HIMSS 11 Experience

    Jeff Smith, Director, Healthcare Vertical - Business Solutions  :  04 March 2011 / 3:08 PM  :  1 1 comments

HIMSS 2011 in Orlando, FL was a great experience for me to see what the future of healthcare will bring and the technology that will drive delivery and support within hospitals, clinics, physician’s offices, labs and payers.  The delivery of care will change significantly with mandates such as the use of EMR by 2014 for physicians, ACO, Meaningful Use, etc.  The use of mobility, cloud computing and remote patient monitoring had a significant presence at HIMSS with the largest cellular network providers partnering with some of the largest clinical systems to develop solutions remotely.

CIBER’s Healthcare Vertical demonstrated the “ciDash” framework at HIMSS delivered on the iPad®/iPhone® and the proof-of-concept buil...

Jeff Smith Sick? - “There’s an app for that”

    Jeff Smith, Director, Healthcare Vertical - Business Solutions  :  17 February 2011 / 2:09 PM  :  1 1 comments

2010 saw the explosion of smart phone use and iTunes® app store and the Android® Market delivered a myriad of “apps” for these phones - and it’s changing our lives. How many times have you said “I’ve got an app for that” or “There has to be an app for that”? Apple coined “There’s an app for that” in their marketing campaigns because it reflects reality - the phrase is used all day, every day as we look for help to fill a void or answer a question.  There are more than 6,000 healthcare related apps in the market today. Some physicians are concerned healthcare consumers will rely just on these apps to manage their care and forgo the office visit. Is your phone as smart as or ...
