DIRECTOR OF CIBER'S UNISYS TECHNOLOGIES GROUP
Ron Noble, Director of CIBER’s Unisys Technologies Group and recipient of CIBER’s 2008 Top Midsize Business Unit Award
Ron has been working in the Information Technology field since 1969. He began his IT career as a mainframe operator/programmer, then on to positions as an application programmer, database administrator, systems programmer, project manager, chief technology officer, and business unit manager. Ron joined CIBER in March 2004.
In his current capacity, Ron plans, organizes, directs and controls a specialized business unit dedicated to Unisys ClearPath mainframe hardware/software technologies and related support services. Ron’s team also resells Unisys hardware and software products along with its own proprietary software tool set for rapid application development, “RADS”.

Ron’s experience includes work in Federal/State/Local Government, Banking, Manufacturing, Aerospace and Education. He holds a BS Degree in Computer Science, Cum Laude, from Saint Cloud State.

Challenges of an Aging IT Workforce
Ron Noble, Director of CIBER's Unisys Technologies Group : 11 September 2009 / 10:02 AM : 0
Many organizations, especially those still using mainframes to run their critical business applications, face the challenge of an IT workforce that’s approaching retirement age and an influx of recent CIS/MIS graduates that are ill prepared to support legacy applications and operating systems.
One way organizations can successfully tackle this challenge before their most knowledgeable workers walk out the door is through outsourcing – specifically outsourcing some or all of their mainframe applications, operations and infrastructure services and technical support to an experienced external service provider like CIBER. In an effort to control IT costs, most of us have looked to Open Source software to find a cheaper solution to our existing HP, IBM or Unisys heavy metal solutions. When we think Open Source, the first thing that comes to mind of course is Linux. What, not interested in Linux? No problem. Our buddies at Microsoft are ready to come to our rescue.
A few weeks ago Microsoft invited us down to their office in Phoenix to present “Integrate Your IT Environment” (or how to ride the Open Source horse yet stay Linux-free). So, if your IT shop has a strong WinTel base, Microsoft has a solution for you! Go ahead and run that Op...

Mission-Critical Application Workloads Demand Predictable Performance
Ron Noble, Director of CIBER's Unisys Technologies Group : 05 June 2009 / 8:25 AM : 0

CIBER’s Unisys Technologies Group would like to start a dialogue with companies who are either planning (or who have already committed) to transition their mission-critical, back-end, “scale-up” workloads from proprietary RISC-based platforms to more cost-effective high-end, “big iron” industry-standard servers. If your company fits this profile, we would appreciate an opportunity to speak with you and your team.
For illustrative purposes, it might be helpful to expand upon a few concepts mentioned above:
