Ron Noble, Director of CIBER’s Unisys Technologies Group and recipient of CIBER’s 2008 Top Midsize Business Unit Award

Ron has been working in the Information Technology field since 1969. He began his IT career as a mainframe operator/programmer, then on to positions as an application programmer, database administrator, systems programmer, project manager, chief technology officer, and business unit manager. Ron joined CIBER in March 2004.

In his current capacity, Ron plans, organizes, directs and controls a specialized business unit dedicated to Unisys ClearPath mainframe hardware/software technologies and related support services. Ron’s team also resells Unisys hardware and software products along with its own proprietary software tool set for rapid application development, “RADS”.

Since many of CIBER’s Unisys ClearPath clients have a need to provide uninterrupted service to their customers and suppliers around the clock, Ron’s unit also provides subscriber-based 24x7 infrastructure and operational support services, including a remote recovery facility and loaner equipment.

Ron’s experience includes work in Federal/State/Local Government, Banking, Manufacturing, Aerospace and Education. He holds a BS Degree in Computer Science, Cum Laude, from Saint Cloud State.

Many organizations, especially those still using mainframes to run their critical business applications, face the challenge of an IT workforce that’s approaching retirement age and an influx of recent CIS/MIS graduates that are ill prepared to support legacy applications and operating systems.

In an effort to control IT costs, most of us have looked to Open Source software to find a cheaper solution to our existing HP, IBM or Unisys heavy metal solutions.  When we think Open Source, the first thing that comes to mind of course is Linux.  What, not interested in Linux?  No problem.  Our buddies at Microsoft are ready to come to our rescue.
