Siddhi Pathak is a Project Manager at CIBER’s Orlando Branch. She has been focused on the Wireless and Mobile industry for the past decade – starting as a student graduating as a Wireless Software Engineer from Auburn University. Siddhi worked with Mobile data solutions provider – Motricity for more than 4 years before joining CIBER in November of 2009. While at Motricity, she managed multiple integration projects with Wireless Carriers for SMS, WAP and MMS Gateway, delivery as well as billing. Siddhi stays up to date on all things Mobile with continuous research and management of Mobile Web development projects for CIBER.

Hello!  It has been a few weeks since my last blog – but one question kept me wondering.  I was on a call with a large client who intended to take their current desktop information and port it to mobile.  And the one big question mark for them was whether to use Mobile Transcoders, Mobile Website Builders or to invest in a custom website. Initially this seemed like a no-brainer to me – I thought the custom website should be the way to go since it is custom.  But thinking from a client perspective I feel some distinction and some deep thought was indeed necessary.

Ok..so we all already know how rapidly the Mobile Market has been growing and a lot of companies are jumping to the next level by taking their products/services/information over to Mobile. Look at the first blog here for appealing reasons to be on Mobile Web. Mobility is the mantra -> the speed at which new mobile websites are launching is very similar to the dot com boom.

What's this buzz about Mobile Web

Everywhere I go these days, I see a Mobile Website or Smartphone application in commercials.  Believe it or not our local smoothie store has a Mobile Website.  So why is there such a rush of Mobile Websites?

The analysis is simple – fast moving consumers (even high school students) like to reach to information instantly: anyplace, anytime – all the time.  Being an iPhone user, I can tell that even when I am at home, I like to pull up my iPhone for a quick information search rather than booting my laptop.  It’s convenient and easy.
