En bra styrgrupp
Christina Erikson, Project manager and advisor : 23 August 2010 / 8:50 AM : 0 ![]()

Christina Erikson, Project manager and advisor : 10 May 2010 / 9:02 AM : 0 ![]()

Practical Process Improvement
Mark Benedict, Director of Quality Assurance and Testing Services : 06 May 2010 / 11:57 AM : 3 ![]()
Process Improvements are routinely needed everywhere in the IT and IS worlds. But no matter what the process is that needs improvement, the technology that needs to evolve or the new methods people need to use the overarching story is the same: We need to do this, but we just don't have time to do it. We're too busy working.
Even in organizations that have it all figured out, it comes down to this one last thing. Making the change. And that's where the worst resistance in any organization hits your best intentions with a sucker punch.

CRM Done Right
Thomas Wieberneit, National Manager CRM Practice : 16 November 2009 / 4:37 PM : 0 ![]()
After some blogs on the buzzing topic of social CRM I recently came to thinking about the way to make CRM projects successful.
An initiator to this thinking was the opportunity to speak at an SAP user group meeting.
As a part of this thought process I came across the most recent Chaos Report of the Standish Group, which got released in April 2009. It shows that the success of projects is on the decline again with the project failure rate soaring since 2004.

Scoping an Enterprise Program
Tom Finneran, Principal Consultant : 17 July 2009 / 10:16 AM : 0 ![]()
What do we mean by a program?
A Program is a business activity involved with managing several related projects, often with the intention of improving an organization's performance. As an example, a business can have a marketing program that is comprised of two TV advertising projects, a national radio project, a series of regional radio projects, three web advertising projects, a series of newspaper ad campaigns, and a mailing campaign. An ERP systems program may include a customer order project, and HR project, a materials management project, and a financial acc...

The Implementation Part 5: Ready Set Go
Andrew Provines, Senior Consultant : 09 July 2009 / 3:54 PM : 0 ![]()
The final phase of the implementation is “Cut Over”, “Go Live”, or whatever you prefer to call it. The bottom line is that the time has come to put all of this work into action. The question then becomes what is the best approach to do this.
Lawson 9 Security makes this step very easy. Security activation is on a per user basis. This means that each individual is brought over separately. You can have laua data present in the user setup and Lawson 9 Security data present and switch back and forth like flipping a light switch. How convenient. So the method you ...

Legacy Modernization - New quart of paint or a new dry wall?
Ashu Bhatia, Director of Delivery : 01 July 2009 / 4:44 PM : 0 ![]()
In any company that has some history, there are typical IT systems that were used for transaction processing or otherwise that have now become the ‘legacy’ system. With SOA and web services, there is always that debate of modernization of legacy, renewal of legacy, retirement, etc. The debate goes on and on.
One often wonders if this is about putting up new walls in an old house and a fresh quart of paint. Or is this like what they did to the Louvre in Paris. Build a set of high tech glass and metal pyramids<...

Lean and Six Sigma
Ashu Bhatia, Director of Delivery : 08 June 2009 / 11:45 AM : 0 ![]()
Recently I was on the panel of a CXO discussion around how to optimize costs and increases business productivity, when someone from the audience asked about Lean Six Sigma and its relevance, especially in today’s economy.
They asked is it Six Sigma that has been more effective or have Lean principles helped more? And how exactly do they differ? That set of dialog encouraged me to write this post. There is always debate about Lean and ...

For the Successful Project Manager, the Cup is Always Empty
John Roach, Senior Project Manager : 21 May 2009 / 9:27 AM : 2 ![]()
Is an empty glass better than a full one? We often use the example of a glass and water as an analogy to illustrate our position on whether or not someone is an optimist or a pessimist depending upon whether they see the glass as half full or half empty. There is, however, another analogy we can use involving a glass and water that digs a little deeper into how successful someone is at assimilating new information—and how they should be expected to respond when things really heat up. It goes something like this: a full glass cannot accept anything new-- whereas an empty glass can...

Repurposing Your Project Management Office (PMO)
Woody Walker, Director, Project Management Office : 11 May 2009 / 1:52 PM : 0 ![]()
In an economic environment characterized by near unprecedented losses in business profitability, jobs and personal wealth, the average business professional is focused on keeping the lights on. With thousands of organizations faced with delivering an acceptable level of business with fewer and fewer resources, who can afford Project Managers or a Project Management Office (PMO) full of Project Managers and Project Administrators?
Some leaders may feel that project management is not critical to the operation and survival of their business and so the PMO is sometimes th...
