Lasttester - eller hur långt är ett snöre?
Christina Erikson, Project manager and advisor : 23 June 2010 / 10:06 AM : 0 ![]()

Batch and Expiry Management: It can save you millions
Prady Belavadi, Consultant : 26 June 2009 / 4:54 PM : 0 ![]()
Recently I was talking to one of my customers for whom I had developed a Batch & Expiry Management module in their ERP. It was interesting to get some feedback from them.
The retailer is one the leading food & grocery hypermarkets in Asia and has a wide range of categories at their stores. The CEO had told me that they lost thousands of dollars every year on items expiring at their warehouse before reaching the stores. Worse, some of those items got to the stores without realizing they were expired. Hence, the retailer checked every carton that reached store before putting o...

To LAMP or WAMP, That is the Question
Ron Noble, Director of CIBER's Unisys Technologies Group : 23 June 2009 / 10:48 AM : 0 ![]()
In an effort to control IT costs, most of us have looked to Open Source software to find a cheaper solution to our existing HP, IBM or Unisys heavy metal solutions. When we think Open Source, the first thing that comes to mind of course is Linux. What, not interested in Linux? No problem. Our buddies at Microsoft are ready to come to our rescue.
A few weeks ago Microsoft invited us down to their office in Phoenix to present “Integrate Your IT Environment” (or how to ride the Open Source horse yet stay Linux-free). So, if your IT shop has a strong WinTel base, Microsoft ...

Mission-Critical Application Workloads Demand Predictable Performance
Ron Noble, Director of CIBER's Unisys Technologies Group : 05 June 2009 / 8:25 AM : 0 ![]()
CIBER’s Unisys Technologies Group would like to start a dialogue with companies who are either planning (or who have already committed) to transition their mission-critical, back-end, “scale-up” workloads from proprietary RISC-based platforms to more cost-effective high-end, “big iron” industry-standard servers. If your company fits this profile, we would appreciate an opportunity to speak with you and your team.
For illustrative purposes, it might be helpful to expand upon a few concepts mentioned above:
- Mission-critical, back-end workloads are typic...

Web 2.0 and its long tailAshu Bhatia, Director of Delivery : 08 May 2009 / 11:02 AM : 0

Everywhere one goes these days one is bombarded with the XYZ 2.0 lingo – Sales 2.0, Business 2.0, Life 2.0. It’s like 101 of anything is so passé. But my eyes really opened up to the return of the fat clients on the Internet when I was chatting with one of my technology architects the other day. He asked me “Do you like using MS outlook or do you prefer the web mail client”? The obvious answer was I like MS Outlook because of the user interface - I can check mails to delete, mark multiple mails as ‘read’, and many other functions that I cannot in my web mail.

Question: What security reports are available to show the info. already in the Lawson Security?
Answer: There are small reports that allow a number of objects and items to be reported on. The security reporting is much better than it used to be, but there are still some holes to be filled. Please reference the security manual available on Lawson support for specifics. In order to report on all security definitions setup CIBER employs a method of dumping the data out and entering it into Excel using pivot tables.Question: How do y...
