Tom Marrs
PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT

Tom Marrs, a 20+ year veteran in the software industry, is a Principal Architect with CIBER, where he specializes in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). He designs and implements mission-critical business applications using the latest SOA, Java/EE, AJAX, and Open Source technologies. Tom also spends a lot of time evaluating architecture, and training and mentoring developers on his projects. Tom is the co-author of JBoss At Work: A Practical Guide (O’Reilly, 2005), has been published in java.net, Java Developers’ Journal, and has authored and co-authored several technical training courses.

I’m beginning my return to writing and presenting on SOA, etc., and I’ve been searching for ideas for describing business processes and  end-to-end solutions. As a technologist, I needed something that would enable me to talk about technical topics to show how you could meet a business need. I mentioned this to my colleague Rama Uppugunduri from CIBER’s Global Enterprise Integration Practice (GEIP), and he provided me with the following URLs that show good sample data models for several business domains:
